Ford is offering a newly improved version of the MyFord Touch and Sync radio system with better voice control and Bluetooth, it said.

Navigation has also been updated in the new radio system to be available on the 2014 Ford Fiesta which ships  in Spring.

The system will have a 6.5 inch touch screen and better voice command accuracy through use of new VoCon 3200 v4.2 speech software.

Drivers also now get better voice control over music, said Ford.  They can say “Play (name)“  to request a song or artist (or they may say “Play jazz” to request a genre).

Also, at any time, the driver can change radio stations by saying “AM 760” or he can change Sirius stations by stating the name of the station.  (You no longer need to say “Radio” or “Sirius” first to change modes).

Navigation controls have been simplified to make it easier to input an address, said Ford.

And Bluetooth phone pairing is simpler, so the driver need only hit “OK” if the PIN on the phone and on the touch screen are matching.

Ford says MyFord Touch  and Sync continue to reel in new car buyers.  Sixty-five percent of those intending to purchase a car report that Sync plays a role in their purchase choice. “Take rates for MyFord Touch on new vehicle orders, such as the 2013 Escape and Fusion, continue to outpace our internal projections. We expect the same trend for Fiesta,” said a Ford Marketing Manager, Michelle Moody.

Ford has continued to improve the MyFord Touch since an earlier version was considered difficult to use.
